Our staff and students would like to thank Kendra Jessie for visiting Inner City High School last week. Kendra is an Indigenous wellness advocate, an athlete, a coach, a brand spokesperson, and a content creator. She hails from Sucker Creek First Nation in traditional Treaty 8 Territory in northern Alberta. She uses her Instagram and TikTok platforms to educate people about Indigenous culture and spread awareness about the issues of Indigenous communities as well as inspire future generations. She loves to share her culture through the art of dance, mindful movement, holistic health and cultural practices. Our thanks to The Canadian Native Friendship Centre for connecting Kendra to our school.
RDD Group Steps Up Again!
Another November thank you — this time to Edmonton's RDD Group. They are a family-run local area business that provides office/school supplies and imprinting and they have donated free school supplies to Inner City High School consistently over the last couple of years. Our thanks to their ownership and team for thinking of our students. 👋 🙂

Grandview Pharmacy Helps With Health!
Thanks Grandview Pharmacy!
We would like to say thank you and acknowledge #Edmonton's Grandview Pharmacy, who have supported us by providing in-school flu and other vaccinations for many years. We appreciate their ongoing commitment to the health of our school! www.grandviewpharmacy.ca
Many Thanks to the Parkdale Cromdale Community League!
We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the Parkdale Cromdale Community League and specifically Bronwen, our League contact, for allowing us the use of their Hall’s kitchen. In late August, we received news that our school’s kitchen renovation was not going to meet its original opening target before school opened. Considering this, we had to find alternate remote kitchen space very quickly! The Parkdale Cromdale Community League stepped up and provided a commercial kitchen rental allowing us to maintain our weekday lunch and food service that is offered to 190 youth in our program. Their assistance addressed immediate challenges and we are very thankful for their assistance and support. Thank You for Helping Build Stronger Communities and Futures
The Inner City Youth Development Association would like to extend its thanks and gratitude to the NIB Trust Fund (now the Future Generations Foundation) for their generous support of our 'Negan Tepeh' program. Your commitment to this program is instrumental in addressing the profound challenges faced by marginalized Indigenous urban youth in our program and in our local community.
The funding enabled us to provide crucial resources and supports to create opportunities for marginalized Indigenous youth, helping them overcome intergenerational trauma and other barriers while allowing them to develop the skills to build a brighter future.
Most of those we work with suffer from varying degrees of intergenerational trauma. Your funding assisted with our mandate to:
respond to the TRC’s Calls to Action.
respond to the needs of the youth we serve with respect and hope.
provide youth with resources, tools, and attitudes to help stabilize their lives.
provide youth with cultural opportunities, to strengthen their cultural identity, traditions, and educational pursuits.
So, again, we thank the Foundation for believing in our mission and for your ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for Indigenous youth, here, and across Canada. Your support has made a positive impact and difference in creating a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
With sincere appreciation,
Joe Cloutier
