Join us as the school goes by bus to the Telus World of Science for National indigenous Peoples Day. A day to recognize and celebrate the unique and outstanding contributions of Indigenous Peoples.
Buses will leave for Telus World of Science for Indigenous Peoples Day at 9:30 AM and return to school at 2:30 PM. Bagged lunches will be supplied but a free BBQ is also offered at the event.
TELUS World of Science - Edmonton is providing FREE Science Centre General Admission for Indigenous peoples on June 21.
DAY’S EVENTS SCHEDULE*:
8:00 a.m. - Tipi raising & trapper tents - FREE outdoor activity
9:00 a.m. - Lighting of the Qulliq** with Elder Myna
**A qulliq is the traditional oil lamp used within Arctic communities, including the Inuit. It is made of soapstone in a rounded shape and traditionally uses the oil blubber from seals or whales as fuel and arctic cotton grass as the wick.
