Moose Hide Campaign Day

  • Inner City 11205 101 St Edmonton, Alberta Canada (map)

On May 12, 2022 we are taking part to support reconciliation and help end violence against all women and children.

According to the Campaign’s research, on average each moose hide pin starts 10 conversations. So that’s 20 million conversations about ending violence that wouldn’t have happened. More people are talking about addressing violence against Indigenous women and girls, about tackling systemic racism and working towards reconciliation.

The Campaign aims to distribute 10 million moose hides by the end of 2023. Indigenous peoples have had a deep and sacred connection with the natural world since time immemorial. For many generations, moose hide was used for ceremonial purposes and for making moccasins, jackets, gloves, rope, etc. It is associated with gentleness, warmth, comfort, hope, and love. The use of the moose hide for this campaign honours this sacred relationship and keeps the traditional protocols and teachings of our Elders alive.
