Thank You Edmonton Superheroes!

We'd like to say a big thank you to all the participants, sponsors and volunteers who made our Superhero Fun Run/Walk such a success on Sunday, June 15, 2014.

The weather was awesome and we think everyone enjoyed being out in our beautiful River Valley on Father's Day. For 9 am on a Sunday, there were tons of creative costumes and people really got into showing off their super skills.  Walkers and runners completed a gentle meandering course that went from Louise McKinney Riverfront Park into Riverdale and back. 

We had a super time hosting the event and hope we can turn this into an annual thing in the years to come. Thanks from Inner City!

We would also like to say a big thank you to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation for their ongoing support with us. The students are so proud of the building that the Oilers foundation recently renovated. Their support of our food program and presenting some youth with post-secondary scholarships has really made a difference. 

Inner City High School's 2014 Grads!

This year 10 to 12 students will graduate with full high school diplomas. Here, grad is a celebration of the resiliency of our students, their intelligence, and overcoming the significant barriers they face just to get to school. All students receive a certificate acknowledging their effort and recognizing the high school credits they earned.

• Received the City Of Edmonton's Salute To Excellence (1999) acknowledging Inner City’s successful programming for Edmonton’s high risk youth
• Received the University of Alberta's Alumni Award (2000) acknowledging Inner City’s successful programming for Edmonton’s high risk youth
• Recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal (2005) acknowledging Inner City’s successful programming for Edmonton’s high risk youth
• Selected as the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Legacy Project (2007)
• Presented with the Native Counselling Services award for Outstanding Contribution to the Aboriginal Community (2009)
• Among the finalists for Alberta Education’s Salute to Teaching Excellence (2011)
• Recipient of the TELUS Innovation Award (2012) acknowledging Inner City’s successful and innovative programming for Edmonton’s high risk youth.
