Inner City High School and TELUS World of Science build Indigenous Education partnership.

Inner City High School is developing a collaborative partnership that links our independent high school to TELUS World of Science and its Indigenous Education and Indigenous Ways of Knowing program.

This partnership is another way that marginalized Indigenous and other urban youth can engage in and get excited about their learning in the areas of science, particularly from an Indigenous perspective.

The Indigenous Ways of Knowing program features Elder Albert Marshal's concept of "Two Eyed Seeing" — how Indigenous culture and science can enhance Western culture and science. The program underpins the work of TELUS World of Science, Indigenous Education Program Director Fred Hines. "Our discussions around this partnership with the TELUS World of Science have been positive," says Joe Cloutier, School Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer. "It’s a great fit that has the potential to enhance our science classes and improve student engagement. We are excited to continue the positive momentum of this partnership."

This partnership could also allow our Association to showcase our potential Green and Inclusive Buildings project as an installation at the TELUS World of Science, so that others in the community can learn about our NetZero conversion and other improvements around our school.

TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s mission is to: Ignite curiosity. Inspire discovery. Celebrate science. Change lives. They are the destination to engage Albertans’ hearts and minds in science.
